Adebanji Alade is one of the most exciting new artists in Britain today working in both oil and acrylic. He has won a clutch of awards for his dynamic, mostly urban, paintings that are usually full of people and life. Not that Adebanji paints his people with solemnity and precision. Often as not they are applied in a frenzy of colour and brushstrokes and are little more than dabs of colour. But the results are spectacular and it is this highly energised whirlwind style painting. Adebanji is based in London and is a provisional member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters

Mike is known in Britain and internationally as a painter, etcher, writer, teacher and television personality. He originally trained at Watford School of Art (Graphic Design), and after teaching art in Hertfordshire schools (his original home) carried out a postgraduate course in printmaking at Brighton College of Art. Whilst still a student at Brighton, he was elected (one of the youngest ever) Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE), became a fellow in 1971 and subsequently served as Honorary Secretary and later Vice-President. His love of painting was found early. From the age of 12 he knew what he wanted from his life, and has been lucky (and hard-working) enough to achieve this. A lifelong love of watercolour was rewarded in 1993 with his election as Associate of the Royal Watercolour Society, and his elevation to full member in 1997.
Mike’s work, both in painting and printmaking, has made him one of Britain’s most well known painters, and he is represented in many public and private collections worldwide, including those of HM The Queen, HM The Queen Mother, ex-King Constantine of the Hellenes, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, The Ashmolean Museum Oxford, The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, and the Daily Express (mural for the Boardroom).
Mike achieved great popularity as resident art
expert on the hit Channel 4 programme Watercolour Challenge
with Hannah Gordon. With 3 series and over 60 programmes Mike
reached an audience of over 1 1/2 million . In 2007 Mike was given the
enormous privilege of using J M W Turner's pigments to be ground by him
into watercolour. The paint was subsequently used by him for filming
Turner's watercolour techniques for a permanent exhibition at Tate
Britain in London.

Genesis Oils provides the perfect medium, giving me the freedom & control over the whole drying process, along with the advantage of no time consuming- set up or clean up each day, plus many other advantages which, as an artist, one could only dream of. Teaching Art is my second passion. Being able to pass on my own knowledge and expertise is always rewarding, in particular, seeing the end result on the students canvas. Brian progressed from drawing down the back of the classroom as a child to the East Sydney College of Art, which used to be the old Darlinghurst Gaol. He found this most ironic, studying the freedom of art in an underground dungeon. Maybe that's when he started to think like a cartoonist! He worked in the advertising industry in Brisbane and Sydney, at Myer, Woolworths, MP Advertising and Berry Currie Advertising from where he was headhunted to set up G.J. Coles Queensland advertising operations as the company's first Qld State Advertising Manager. He later opened his own specialist cartoon oriented advertising agency and still works for selected clients, but his true passion now is working with children in schools. He is dedicated to do everything he can, to share his skills, experience and enthusiasm for drawing with as many children as possible.

Chris Forsey RI
Chris Forsey has exhibted on numerous occasions with the Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. He is a tutor of painting and runs his own watercolour classes in Surrey and Sussex and in the Greek Islands. He endeavours to re-appraise his style and technique on a regular basis and this has led him towards a mixed-media approach to his work, combining watercolour, acrylic, pastel and gouache. Chris is exhilarated by colour and surface and enjoys creating textured layers of dry-brushed colour that allow hints of complementary hue to glow through, thus creating an exciting surface of scattered, broken colour. He specialises in landscape subjects, exploring the themes of man-made alongside the organic: buildings by water; structure emerging from a rocky cliff, sometimes with figures contributing to this theme, inhabiting the middle ground between buidings and the wildness of nature. Chris is inspired by downland, coastal scenes of the Uk and the Mediternean, cafe life and townscapes. Chris was awarded the prestigious F DONALD BLAKE AWARD for a contemporary watercolour by the LINCOLN JOYCE gallery in 2006 at the RI spring exhibition and also THE MATT BRUCE MEMORIAL AWARD for light and colour at the 2007 RI exhibition

Noel Gregory was born in Ealing England on Christmas Day 1944 and moved to Buckinghamshire in the early fifties. His interests were always directed to the arts rather than academic subjects and his acceptance into High Wycombe College of Art in 1960, was the start of four years training for the National Diploma in Design and Art Teachers. Having finished his training with the Art Teachers Diploma in Bournemouth Noel then taught painting at Newlands Park teacher training college.
He then started picture
restoring and for over twenty five years dealt with what was to become
the huge growth market of Victorian Water Colours, using his own art
gallery in Farnham Common Buckinghamshire for this purpose. In the late
1980's the economic problems of investment painting, antiques and the
housing markets were such that to continue in the art field he started
painting and producing images and prints to be sold in the gallery. The
interest produced in the these works was sufficient to promote them at
fine art shows, Ideal Home Exhibitions and craft fairs and to develop a
large American market with the juried street fairs of the Sunshine
Trail in Florida and Alabama. He

Ron was born in Te Kuiti in 1949. Ron began his art career when his art teacher “bullied him into painting” during his School Certificate year. He trained as a commercial artist, but loves most of all to paint the natural landscape, as God created it, but in a bold, painterly style. It should look at its best when viewed from four to six metres away. Oils would be his medium of choice, but he has won awards in Acrylics, Water Colours as well as Oils. He has won or been placed in thirteen national art competitions since he began painting seriously in 1978.
His paintings have been reproduced in the form of hand signed limited edition prints, place- mats, coasters, and calendars. As the result of successful exhibitions, Ron’s work can be found in many countries in the world. Ron is the author of an instructional video, “Painting in Oils, with Ron Gribble.” This has sold many copies in his native New Zealand, and under license in the U.K. and Australia. He has, as a result, become a sought after tutor, and judge.

The constant theme in his work is working from life, whether portrait, landscape or interiors. Much of what he does centres around travelling and working on location. Anything that is produced on the spot is rarely adjusted back in the studio, preserving the essence of a time and a place. However, very often work made direct from life will provide the basis for producing larger scale paintings done in the studio.
James Horton has always been an active portrait painter but believes likeJohn Singer Sargent that to be a good portrait painter one should produce a variety of work made from life. He works mainly in oil and watercolour but also in pastel, one of his books being 'Pastel Techniques'. Apart from his own books, James Horton has written numerous articles for a variety of magazines and his work is also featured in many other books and articles. As a teacher he taught part- time in several different art schools until 1990 and now has occasional classes in his studio along the lines of the old atelier system where students can study with a working painter. In 2002 he accompanied HRH Prince Charles with ' The friends of Mount Athos' as artist in residence with a special brief to draw and paint the monastery architecture. Currently he works a great deal in India and since 2000 he has been taking groups to India and also accompanies painting groups to other locations that include Tuscany, Venice, North Africa and Jordan.

Patrick Howe had his first one person show in the lobby of a bank show at age 15. Then later, after art school, he tried to make it as an artist but ‘reality’ soon set in, so he worked during the day and painted at night. Eventually he worked in the advertising field for many years and learned many of the skills that most artists lack, such as marketing, public relations, and branding. But in 2002 he left that and returned to painting full time. In 2004 the Patrick Howe Gallery opened in Seattle, where he shows his art, hold classes, and paints.

David Howell was born in 1939 and is based at his studio in North Yorkshire, England. His paintings are primarily of landscape and marine subjects, but he is also well known for his Equestrian racing pictures. He works in watercolour, oils and pastels, and is a regular exhibitor at both national level and with regional galleries in the UK, USA, the Middle East and Australia and is the current President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. David's approach to painting is very much concerned with capturing atmosphere and a sense of time and place but above all he is concerned with producing good paintings rather than topographical accuracy. He works outside as much as possible and over the years has travelled widely and he is still just as likely to be found sitting by a canal in Venice as dragging an easel through the Arabian desert. His paintings hang in corporate and private collections in diverse locations that range from city boardrooms to royal palaces and he is currently the President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.

Erik Koeppel (b.1980) is a traditional New England based landscape painter who has become a leader in the revival of the techniques and philosophy of the Hudson River School. Koeppel studied extensively in museums, and in nature to arrive at the determination that the powerful methods of the masters, are in fact an urgently needed voice in contemporary culture. In mastering these techniques, this assertion has been proven by the extensive success his work has found nationwide, in the form of awards, publications, academic recognition, exhibitions, and collectability. His highly naturalistic paintings are created without the use of photography.

Hazel's work is strongly influenced by her travels — the bustle and colours of the souks of Marrakesh... the temples and forests of India... the savannahs and wildlife of Africa... the cafes and milongas of Buenos Aires... the familiar seascapes of our island's edge — places that become a part of the weave of dreams and memory she draws on. She has exhibited in many one-woman shows, in the U.K. and internationally. Among the exciting things that have happened to her was a recent invitation to show alongside an established fashion designer during the London Fashion Week at the Metropolitan Hotel, Park Lane. This is the first time that London Fashion Week has invited an artist to exhibit. For the past few years Hazel has exhibited in a prestigious San Francisco Gallery, which has led to several major international commissions.

Carolyn has subsequently developed a wealth of talent and knowledge for her chosen medium which can be seen clearly within her work. A commendable quality of Carolyn’s work is the feeling one experiences of actually being in the scene while viewing her strongly designed landscapes. The art of Carolyn Lewis is inspired by nature, wildlife and people. It is sensitive without being overly sentimental. Her commissioned portraits of individuals and animals, and her powerful landscapes, are steadily gaining acclaim in international art circles. I was born in a small village just outside Cambridge, and while at school, the only subject I was really interested in was art, particularly relief sculpture. I have done a variety of jobs throughout my life, none of which fulfil the creative side of my nature, and that’s probably why thirty years or so after leaving school, I thought I’d take up art again. I began with acrylics and then moved on to oils, but I was never happy with my efforts. I realised I needed to learn the art of painting from the beginning again and enrolled in an art course at the local college. However, the only course available was for watercolour, so I thought I’d give it a go! From there on I was hooked on watercolour and I now paint exclusively in that medium. My style is direct application of paint with no overlay of washes as I believe this gives the finished painting the transparency so desired by many watercolour artists. I believe that anyone who is passionate enough about painting can learn to paint. It’s a continual learning experience, but very rewarding when it all comes together and you finish up with a painting you’re happy with. I run a weekly watercolour class, and also do occasional day workshops for art groups. My subjects are taken from everyday life, from the UK to France, Spain, Greece – anywhere there’s a moment to be captured in watercolour.

The latter are her 'pickups' - faces she sees and pounces on to sit for her.

He now paints with equal facility in both watercolour and oil and has greatly extended his range of subject matter. Born in Kyogle, New South Wales in 1954, Richard Rogers is known for iconic Australian imagery and the vibrancy of his painting style. His art education has been largely informal. During the 1980's he learnt the technique of batik from South Australian artist Jeremy Keyte, which led to his first solo exhibition, held at the Underground Gallery in Coober Pedy in 1985. Dissatisfied with the colour fastness of the dyes he used, he switched to painting with more traditional mediums, watercolour, acrylics.and oils. He now paints primarily with acrylics. Meeting and spending time with an aboriginal artist, John Evans, inspired a desire to create an art style that is identifiably Australian, one that combines the rhythm, patterns and colour of indigenous art with Europeon art techniques. Richard's last exhibition sold completely and his work has been featured in the Artists Palette and Australian Artist magazines. His paintings are found in collections throughout Australia and overseas.

In his early childhood in Cuba, Cesar, always interested in creative arts, built mud sculptures in the rain and used his imagination to invent toys. At the age of 12, after immigrating with his family to Miami, he dreamed of a future as an artist. Even while participating in the sport of boxing and attending a magnet high school for architecture, his first love was always fine art. After attending art school and learning a contemporary view of post-impressionistic principles, Cesar wanted to understand the scientific aspects of painting, so he set off to the Angel Academy in Florence to learn more. He took that knowledge and, combining it with what he had learned earlier, developed his own unique personal style that reflects both modernism and traditionalism.

After leaving school and completing a foundation course in Art and Design, Fraser set about creating a series of paintings based upon the Lincolnshire countryside as he viewed it, literally from his own doorstep. This series of 25 works formed the basis of Frasers first solo exhibition 'Lincolnshire' in the summer of 2007 and helped to generate a new interest in Landscape art within the county. Since this exhibition Fraser has continued to paint the Lincolnshire landscape, exploring new areas of interest and new and exiting viewpoints. After moving his studio to Lincoln at the end of 2007, Fraser began looking for a new challenge that would connect him with the history and culture of the city itself and at the start of 2008 Fraser was awarded the title of 'Artist in Residence' at Lincoln's famous Cathedral.
As artist in residence Fraser's aim is to get as many people within the county involved with art as possible. 2009 will see two large community art projects, organised by Fraser, taking place in Lincolnshire that aim to do just that. The residency also promises exiting new directions for Fraser's own work, as he interprets an entirely new subject matter. Fraser's landscape work has resulted in him being award the title of SAA 'Artist of the Year' for 2008. Only just starting his career, Fraser Scarfe promises to be an exiting talent to watch out for in the future.

Reg Siger is a self-taught artist who, for the last 30 years has specialised in depicting old cottages, farmhouses, village and town scenes. Reg's work concentrates on the historical aspect of the subjects, reflecting his fascination for old architecture. His paintings rarely feature cars, traffic signs or any other modern paraphernalia, giving the scenes a flavour of times gone by. He exhibits mostly in East Anglia, UK, in churches, church halls and village hall art shows, plus a few selected craft fairs. His working technique is unorthodox (so they say!) and consists of a strong drawing executed with a brush and black waterproof ink, which is then filled with acrylic paints. Reg seems to be one of the very few artists painting rainy scenes. Some of these are almost colourless as he uses only three shades mixed to produce interesting greyish tones, giving these paintings a lot of atmosphere. He does take commissions if the subject is compatible with his style of work.

Tricia saya 'The beauty and serenity of creation is what draws me to paint. I love to capture the feel of the moment whether that is the warmth of the light, the velvet feel of a petal or the fold of a cloth. As a seascape artist I enjoy capturing the movement of the waves and the play of light on the sand. There is something quite spiritual and musical in the ocean. It is the light, the rhythm and the emotion that entices me to paint no matter what the subject. I am a Master Pastellist with the Pastel Society of Australia since 2010. The way the pastel becomes your brush and the paper your pallet is immediate and exciting to paint with. The subtle colour effects you can gain by glazing one colour over another gives a great depth to the artwork. I have won awards in the areas of flower, still life, portraits, landscapes and seascapes. However seascapes are my passion. My artwork can be seen at Seaview Gallery Moffat Beach Queensland 7 days a week. Being on duty at the gallery twice a month feel free to drop in and have a chat!'

With the Peak District on his doorstep, Peter is never far away from inspiration for his landscape sketches and watercolour paintings. Painting mainly in Yorkshire, his loose, traditional and pure watercolour style is perfect for capturing the beauty of the English countryside. Always a sketcher at school, Peter was influenced greatly by his art teacher, Wilfred Ball. Now he claims walking as the excuse for his painting - it gets him out into the landscape, and the landscape keeps him inspired and interested. Peter exhibits regularly, mainly in Yorkshire in Hawes. He also runs weekend workshops in the summer when he takes groups sketching in the countryside and then teaches them to paint in watercolour from life and their own sketches.
